PROF. ASHOK KUMAR

Prof. Kumar served as Vice Chancellor, CSJM University, Kanpur, India, from August 2011 to February 2014.

He had additional charge of Vice Chancellor, Chandra Shekhar Azad Agriculture and Technology University, Kanpur. 2012-2013 Prof. Ashok Kumar served as Vice Chancellor, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur- 273009, 13 February 2014-12 February
2017.

Earlier Prof.Kumar served as President, (Vice Chancellor) Shree Kallaji Vedic University, Nimbahera, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, November 2018 -2020.

Prof. Ashok Kumar served as President (Vice Chancellor), Nirwan University, Jhar, Jaipur since October 2020 -2022 At present Prof. Kumar is President of International Society of Life Sciences.

Prof. Ashok Kumar, born in 8.12.1951 at Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Prof. Kumar served as Assistant Professor in Allahabad University (1969), Rajasthan University (1972-75), H.P. University, Shimla (1975-1985) and as Associate Professor at Lucknow University (1985). In 1985 Dr. Kumar joined University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, again as Associate Professor. He became Professor in 2001.

Dr. Kumar is/was actively engaged in research and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is very well-known scientist in the field of Radiation and Cancer Biology. His work has been recognized both at National and International level.

Dr. Kumar is the recipient of Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship, Germany (1982, 83, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2001, and 2002) and Japanese Post Doctoral fellowship (1979, 1981). He is visiting scientist at Shiga Medical University, Shiga, Japan, (1987, 1992, 1994, 1997, 2003, and 2007).
In 2010 Prof. Kumar was invited at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan as a Visiting International Professor from April 2010 to June 2010.

Prof. Kumar was awarded Junior Research Fellowship, CSIR, New Delhi, India, 1969-70. Awarded Research Fellowship, NIH, USA (Project), 1970-72. He was awarded National Associateship (University Grants Commission, New Delhi) for 5 years, 1975-1982. He is the first recipient of Young Scientist Award by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India 1988, for his original contribution in the field of Radiation Biology. He was awarded Senior Scientist award by Association of Radiation Research, United Kingdom, 2003. In Japan 2003 he was awarded Kadota Award for his work on anticancer herbal drugs. In recognition of research Dr.Kumar was awarded Research Excellence Award, on 26th January 2009, by the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.

Prof. Kumar was awarded “Dewang Mehta Business School Award” for Outstanding Contribution to Education, 2011, Awarded “ABP News National B-School Award” for Outstanding Contribution to Education. 2012. Awarded “Kanpur Ratna” by Intellectuals Society, 2013, Awarded “Bharatmata Award” by Indian Institute of Oriental Heritage, 2014, Awarded “Bioved Honorary Fellowship Award 2014” by Bioved Research Institute of Agriculture & Technology, Awarded “DNA innovative B School Award” for outstanding Contribution of Education, 2014.

Dr. Kumar successfully guided several M.Phil (7) and PhD students (35). He has published more than 125 research publications in National and International
Journals. He has published research papers in collaborations with American, German, Japanese, Korean and scientists from England. He is member of several National and International Societies. He is also reviewer of several National/International Journals. He is also external examiner for the evaluation of Ph.D. thesis of foreign universities: Mauritius University, Malaysia, South Africa.

Prof Kumar has delivered scientific talks in foreign universities/ institutes Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany, Shiga Medical University, Shiga, Japan (lectures delivered to MBBS Students also), Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, Tokyo University, Tokyo, Japan, Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, Southern Research Laboratory, Birmingham, USA, Lotte Pharmaceutical Food Division, Seoul, Korea.

Prof. Kumar organized 3 National Conferences and 2 International Conferences in India.
Dr. Ashok Kumar has participated/delivered lectures/chaired sessions at various National and International conferences/symposium etc: Australia, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Iran, Japan, Korea, Mauritius, Netherlands, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand and USA to name a few.
Prof Kumar had several International Collaborative Research Projects. He was awarded Indo German Research Project 2000-2002 (DST-DAAD), Lotte Pharmaceutical Research & Development, Seoul, Korea, Canopus Biopharma, Ireland, USA, Indo Japan Research Project 2010-2012 (DST- JSPS), Indo–Mauritius (CV Raman Fellow Award to work with Prof. Kumar).

Prof. Kumar is associated with various academic activities of Public Service Commissions of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and M.P. and also with Union Public Service Commission, University Grants Commission, Department of Science & Technology and various Indian Universities etc.

At present Prof. Kumar is actively involved in finding new phytochemicals for Anticancer and Radiation Protection. He is having a copaign “Fight Against Cancer “
